commission work 01

warmup before I started the commission

(it's just a warmup so I didn't feel too bad about drawing more silly FF7 things)

The client requested that two of her original characters be drawn, one pose a kiss and the other up to my choice.

landscape practice 01

here's the original reference:

scribbled on some lines

kept adding colors, layers, pulling and pushing darks/lights

final:

I didn't go into an extraordinary amount of detail, but that's not really what I was going for. It was more a speedpaint than anything, and I wanted to hammer down the essential darks/lights.
(...hm it might be a little more orange on the bottom mountains)

assorted 01 (practice)

expressions study with Cloud and Tifa, because they're fun to exaggerate.

some before bed doodles and lack-of-borders composition practice

I am Alex, Rice Warrior.

Ashley-Wood painting style inspired Asami Sato, from Legend of Korra. Wasn't too successful, but  I did discover how wonderful Ashley Wood is.

graphic work 03

WOW I did not expect myself to be making this so soon, but my friend that I made the logo and business card for said she's having an event on Sunday and it'd be good promo, so...

...well, here it is!

the original image:

wow that composition could probably use a little bit of work, but i'll get around to fixing that soon.

traditional work 01

acrylic and charcoal on butcher paper tacked to a door! (there was no space in the room that day...)

acrylic on canvas paper. I might redo this one later.

graphic work 02

this time, i helped my friend design a monster-logo and a business card for her small bakery business that she's running with a friend. give them a call; their macaroons are amazing.

here are the business cards:

and many variations of the monster-logo:

final version

graphic work 01

This was my first web-design project. I was tasked to re-design this site: http://www.keefeins.com/
and give it a more updated look.

I first went ahead to try and keep some of the original aspects, while keeping it cleaner, but I was given the freedom to go ahead and create something completely new, so:

with a drop down box:

and here are some variations of the logo:

summoner jade ("because crossovers are the way to go")

done entirely in Photoshop
this looked a lot better in my head. sigh.
i want to play final fantasy 10 so bad. the world sounds gorgeous.

a small concept sketch. done for a friend's homestuck/ff10 crossover story (which was a-w-e-s-o-m-e)
experimenting with brushes! i went for that rough-brush painting style, but i don't know if I did a very good job. but I did find out a nice brush setting: chalk brush, linear burn, burlap texture. wooo!

anatomy practice 01

90 seconds! God I am so slow. Gotta get better!
Anatomy fact: The facial region of the skull hangs like a mask from beneath the small forward end of the ovoid cranium
because i always have such extraordinary difficulty with faces.
(bookcredit: Atlas of the Human Anatomy, Stephen Rogers Peck)

As for Mournful Monday...dunno, nothing angst-worthy struck me today so I just wrote something different. And by something different I mean a story reasoning as to why Tifa Lockhart does not cut her hair out of heartbreak but cuts it because it's just too damn long.
